Types of Volunteers Needed

Boardman RFPD uses three different types of volunteers:

Volunteer Firefighters:
Volunteer firefighters are the ones who get up close and personal with the fire. They man hose lines, make entry into burning structures, fight car fires, combat natural cover fires and perform extrication from automobile accidents; as well as other emergencies as needed in the district or assisting other districts. Firefighters also drive firetrucks and operate fire pumps. Volunteer firefighters must be at least 18 years old, and have a high school diploma or GED.

Future Firefighters In Training (FFIT):
Future Firefighters In Training is an opportunity for responsible, community minded teens from 14 to 17 to start helping out in their community and learn valuable skills for becoming Volunteer Firefighters. It's a fun way for hard working teens to make friends and start building a resume to impress employers and colleges.

Fire Corps:
Fire Corps is a program for our citizens who want to help out, but aren't interested in or are unable to fight fires. It is a local branch of a national organization funded by Homeland Security. Fire Corps volunteers help out in the community by planning for emergency preparedness, promoting fire safety and prevention, providing support for emergency agencies during crises, assist with public relations, organizing fundraising, and other community activities.
